MCGANNON CENTER SPONSORS PANEL AND CO-HOSTS RECEPTION AT INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE IN  NY


5.27.05. The McGannon Center spnosored a panel at this year's International Communication Association Conference, held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in New York City.  The panel was titled "Milestones in Communications Policy Research Revisited," and featured previous winner's of the Center's Donald McGannon Award for Social and Ethical Relevance in Communications Policy Research reflecting upon their work, its impact, and its continued relevance today.  The panel features wedl-known communications policy scholars W. Russel Neuman (University of Michigan), Steve Wildman (Michigan State University), Robert Horwitz (University of California at San Diego), and Thomas Streeter (University of Vermont).  Each of these scholars is a previous recipient of the McGannon Award.  The panel was chaired by McGannon Center Director Philip Napoli, with Senior Research Associate, and coordinator of the Award program, Jim Capo, serving as the discussant. 

At the conclusion of the panel, the Center co-hosted a reception with the Quello Center for Telecommunications Management and Law at Michigan State University and the Law & Policy Division of the International Communication Association.  At this reception, the winner of the 2004 McGannon Award was announced.
