NEW BOOK: MEDIA DIVERSITY AND LOCALISM: MEANING AND METRICS

MediaDiversityLocalism10.05.06. The McGannonCenter is pleased to announce the publication of Media Diversity and Localism: Meaning and Metrics. This edited volume, published by Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, is the outgrowth of a Center conference organized in December of 2003 and funded by the Ford Foundation’s Electronic Media Policy Portfolio.
The book collects selected papers from this conference, all of which address the principles of diversity and localism and their role in communications policy from either a conceptual or empirical perspective. Contributors to the volume span a wide range of academic disciplines, including law, political science, sociology, communications, and economics.   The research approaches and issues represented in this book provide timely input into the FCC’s ongoing media ownership proceeding.  The books is available at a special discounted price via the Lawrence Erlbaum Associates web page, though this discount is only available for a limited time.
