Summer 2006

Evelyn will be travelling to Portal, Arizona this summer to participate in the American Museum of Natural History Bee course.

Evelyn and Gail will be travelling to Memphis, TN in August to present the results of their research at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America.

This summer, we welcome Tammy Winfield and Rosaly Fernandez to our lab.  Tammy and Rosaly are participating in the Calder Summer Undergraduate Research Program.  We also welcome Peter Werrell and Maureen Heneghan to the lab.  Peter will be working on a senior honors thesis, and Maureen will be working on a graduate research project. 

Spring 2006

Gail will be teaching graduate Insect Ecology in the spring.

Gail, Kevin and Evelyn travelled to Curitiba, Brazil this spring to participate in the UNDP Equator Initiative Community Taba.  More information on the Taba can be found at:  http://www.undp.org/equatorinitiative/

Kevin and Kristin presented the results of their research at the Mid-Atlantic branch meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Mont Claire, New Jersey.

Evelyn received an honorable mention for her National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship proposal.  Congratulations Evelyn.

Gail received a Lindbergh Foundation Grant for her work on insect pollinators in urban and suburban landscapes.  We are most grateful to the Lindbergh School District and the Lindbergh Foundation for funding this grant.  For more information, please refer to:  http://lindberghfoundation.org/grants/index.html

Kevin passed his dissertation proposal defense, and is entering his final summer of field research.  Congratulations Kevin.

Fall 2005

Gail and Kevin travelled to Baltimore to present the results of their research at the annual meeting of the Baltimore Ecosystem Study.

We welcome Shannon Morath to our lab group.  Shannon is pursuing an M.S. degree at Fordham, and will likely continue our work in urban gardens.

Summer 2005

We're travelling this summer!  Gail will return to California to finish up some work on cotton agroecosystems and to gather a bit more data on the Baccharis system.  Kevin and Kristin will be presenting their research at the national meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Montreal, Canada.

Spring 2005

Kevin Cox's Ph.D. research is featured in the Fall / Winter 2004 newsletter of the New York Restoration Project (NYRP).  NYRP is a non-profit organization (founded by Bette Middler) that partners with individuals, community-based groups, and public agencies to reclaim, restore, and develop under-resourced parks, community gardens, and open space in New York City, primarily in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.  Check it out:  http://www.nyrp.org/news.htm

Gail will be travelling to Lansing, Michigan over spring break to present an invited lecture in the department of entomology at Michigan State University.
