Evening Combined Skills (for Professional and Academic Purposes)

This advanced ESL course is designed for business, law and other professionals so that they can contribute more fully to their current or potential majors, internships and jobs. Course materials include: Business Writing (formal/semi-formal/informal and writing clearly/concisely/accurately); Team Research Projects with Oral Presentations on current business topics; Reading Comprehension of a wide range of current business articles and critical analysis and discussion of these topics; Business Fluency through study of common formal and informal business vocabulary and idioms; and enhanced grammatical accuracy in both speech and writing. Registration priority is given to students who are level 5B or above. Others must receive approval from the program director and instructor.

Saturday Writing, Grammar and Reading
Students improve the accuracy of their English by studying grammatical structures, which they use in class discussions and in written responses to readings. Students learn how to organize compositions by learning different approaches to writing, and by reading and analyzing essays and articles.

Saturday Speaking, Listening and Vocabulary
In this course - by working in pairs, groups, or with the whole class - students study and practice listening and speaking skills. Developing fluency is the major emphasis of this course. Grammatical accuracy is also stressed.
