ENGLISH PROFICIENCY EXAM
The Institute of American Language and Culture requires applicants to complete an English proficiency exam prior to registration. The exam is free of charge and comes with no obligation to enroll. The test is offered at the IALC office in Manhattan, 33 West 60th Street, 3rd floor, Monday through Thursday at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The test takes between two and three hours to complete.
Interested students may schedule a proficiency exam by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the office at 212-636-6353.
Note: I-20 applicants should have an English proficiency level of low intermediate or higher at the time of application. The Institute of American Language and Culture (IALC) admits in good faith all qualified applicants to enroll full-time in our program. Upon arrival, students must complete an English proficiency test administered by the IALC to determine appropriate course placement. If the IALC is unable to offer a student a full-time course load at the appropriate proficiency level as determined by the previously mentioned proficiency test, the student has the option to transfer his/her I-20 status to another institution within one month of the IALC program start date OR change his/her status to B-2 (tourist) OR leave the United States at his/her own expense. If you wish to transfer to a program at another institution, the IALC will work with you to find an appropriate fit based on your level of ability
