ABOUT THE LONDON CENTRE
Fordham University’s London Centre is situated in one of London’s most beautiful residential areas. Kensington Square dates back to the late 17th century and features a wide variety of historical houses and a long list of prominent residents. It is located in West London just off Kensington High Street. Here you can find many neighbourhood shops as well as department stores and restaurants. Within walking distance of the campus are the museums in South Kensington as well as the Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The local tube stop is within two blocks of Heythrop College, and there are a number of buses that serve the area.
The facilities at Heythrop are impressive. Fordham’s premises here include spacious studio spaces/classrooms, a library/seminar room, and a number of smaller study spaces as well as the administrative offices of the London Centre. Participants in Fordham’s study abroad programmes are entitled to full use of the on-campus dining hall, the student lounge, and the splendid gardens; as well as participation in Heythrop Student Union activities, giving them the opportunity to meet and mix with UK students which other American a study abroad programmes do not regularly offer. All programme participants are housed conveniently located in residential neighbourhoods within an easy commute to the Centre.
The London Centre is also able to offer facilities and a home base to graduate schools for specialized seminars and study tours as well as to serve as host to academic conferences and workshops. |
