Funding for Graduate Studies

The following fellowship programs provide either full or partial funding towards graduate studies. Note that some of these fellowships are for graduate study in specific disciplines. Please see the individual fellowship pages for information about eligibility requirements.

Beinecke Scholarship

Funding for graduate studies in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. For undergraduate juniors.

The Catholic Biblical Association Scholarship Grants

For full-time doctoral students in biblical studies. Given only to students at four institutions (including Fordham).

Churchill Scholarship

Funds American graduate students to attend Churchill College at Cambridge University for sciences, engineering, or math.

Clare Boothe Luce Graduate Fellowships

For women in science, mathematics and engineering.

DAAD Graduate Scholarships for Individual Study, Research or Advanced Training Measures

Funding which may be used towards graduate degree at a German institution. Generally requires German language proficiency.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships

Funding to attend special joint programs, offered in many disciplines, in two or more European countries.

Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships

Graduate study in range of academic disciplines leading to doctorate. For minority students.

Fulbright U.S. Student Grant

May provide funding for full-time study in a graduate program, depending on country.

Gates-Cambridge Scholarship

For graduate study in any discipline at Cambridge University, England.

Gilliam Fellowship for Advanced Studies

Graduate study in the life sciences. Only for students who have participated in the Exceptional Research Opportunities Program (EXROP) of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

The Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship

For students of applied physical, biological and engineering sciences. For study at select schools only.

Institute for International Public Policy (IIPP) Fellows Program

Sequenced program that culminates in graduate work in international affairs. Apply as a sophomore.

Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program

Graduate study towards doctorate in the arts, humanities, or social sciences, or a Master of Fine Arts degree.

Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund Fellowships

Graduate study in the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences. May include professional studies.

Lilly Graduate Fellows Program

For those interested in becoming teacher-scholars at church-related colleges and universities in the U.S. Must be entering doctoral program in humanities or arts.

James Madison Graduate Fellowship

Funding for relevant graduate study for future teachers of US History in secondary schools.

Marshall Scholarship

Funding for American students to pursue graduate study at a UK institution in any discipline.

Merage Foundation for the American Dream Fellowship

Funding for "new" Americans to pursue academic and career goals.

George J. Mitchell Scholarship

One year graduate study in Ireland or Northern Ireland.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships

For students pursuing doctoral degree in a science/engineering discipline of interest to Dept. of Defense.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)

Supports graduate study leading to research-based degrees in science, math, and engineering.

Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Fellowships

For members of Phi Kappa Phi; for those entering graduate study in any discipline or professional field.

Thomas R. Pickering Undergraduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship

For students who will pursue Master's degree in international affairs or related discipline, with goal of joining Foreign Service. Minority students especially encouraged. For undergraduate juniors only.

Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship

For students about to begin Master's degree in international affairs or related discipline, with goal of joining Foreign Service. Minority students especially encouraged.

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship

For students about to begin Master's degree in international affairs or related discipline, with goal of joining Foreign Service. Minority students especially encouraged.

Rhodes Scholarship Trust

For study in any discipline at Oxford University in England.

Saint Andrew's Society of New York Scholarship

For students of Scottish descent for graduate study in Scotland.

Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service

Dept. of Defense program for students in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

For "new" Americans or children of new Americans. For study in any graduate program in the US.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation

Funding for graduate study and leadership training. Only for undergraduate juniors interested in public service careers.
