Merage Foundation for the American Dream Fellowship
The mission of the Merage Foundation for the American Dream, founded in 2004, is to encourage immigrants to the U.S. in the pursuit of their own American dreams. The Foundation celebrates the contributions of new Americans to U.S. society, and fosters their pursuit of leadership positions in their chosen fields. The Merage American Dream Fellows program provides funding and mentorship over a period of two years to promising new Americans as they pursue their career goals after receiving their bachelor's degrees. Fellows are selected each year from among applicants from 22 partner universities, of which Fordham University is one.
American Dream Fellows receive $10,000 per year for two years. This award may be used in a variety of ways (such as education, travel for research, professional development, living expenses during an internship, etc.) but must support the goals expressed in the fellowship application and interview.
Fellows also attend an annual Foundation dinner and receive mentoring support and networking opportunities through the fellowship term and beyond as they embark on their careers.
"The Fellows are selected based on their academic record, their leadership, their consistent ethical behavior, the clarity of their American Dream, and their potential to make an important contribution to America."
