APPLYING FOR FULL-TERM (SEMESTER/ACADEMIC YEAR) STUDY ABROAD

APPLICATION PROCESS

Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the Fordham Study Abroad Guidelines.

The Study Abroad Application Process involves completing two applications:

1. Fordham Study Abroad Application
2. Your chosen Study Abroad Program Application

Application Deadlines

Fordham Study Abroad Application Deadlines

Fall/AY EARLY ACTION PERIOD Dec. 1st - Jan. 15th
Spring EARLY ACTION PERIOD Apr. 15th - May 30th

Fall/AY Final Action Deadline February 15th
Spring Final Action Deadline September 10th

Program application deadlines vary.
Many programs offer rolling admissions and can fill up many months before their published deadlines.  We urge all prospective applicants to full-term programs to seriously consider applying during one of the Early Action Periods.  Keep in mind that Early Action Period applicants enjoy several benefits, the two most significant being:

1. an opportunity to apply earlier to their program of choice (this is important for programs which review applications on a rolling basis),  and
2. time to research and apply to scholarships offered by their chosen program or other institutions or organizations.

The Fordham Study Abroad Application
Required forms to be submitted to ISAP:

Application Fee *
General Background Information Form
Statement of Purpose Questionnaire
Major Advisor Form
Academic Reference
Language Evaluation (if applicable)

* The required non-refundable application fee ($175) is adjusted so that applications received during the above-mentioned Early Action Period dates are subject to a discounted fee ($125).

Please note that applications cannot be reviewed until ALL of the forms above and fees are received. We cannot guarantee acceptance to students who submit applications by the Early Action dates, but the closer to these dates an application is received, the greater chance a student has of being considered for approval by Fordham and admitted into his/her chosen program. Approval remains subject to review of academic performance, personal conduct the semesters before study abroad, and the reasons advanced for seeking a study abroad experience. Most students will be notified about the status of their application within one month its completion, but some may take a little longer.

Study Abroad Program Application
Required forms to be submitted to ISAP:

Study Abroad Program Approval Form      OR     Program Application

To Consider:

1. Each program requires completion of a separate application, which is available in their brochures or online.
2. You do not need to wait to hear from ISAP before starting the program application.

3. Most program applications contain a program approval form which must be turned in to the ISAP office and signed by the ISAP Director.  Names for the form vary depending on the program.  Please note that the form cannot be signed until the Fordham Study Abroad Application has been received and reviewed.  Once it has been signed, it will be sent directly to the program.
4. In other cases, students must turn in their completed program application to ISAP instead of a program approval form.  ISAP will send this application directly to the program on the student’s behalf.

IMPORTANT: When sending the program application, make sure to include everything requiredby the program, including an official transcript.  Transcripts can be obtained on the first floor of Thebaud Hall at Rose Hill or room 216A in the Lowenstein Building at Lincoln Center. We recommend that you pick up the transcript yourself (as opposed to having it mailed to the program), so you can include it with the rest of your application. Requests are generally fulfilled within 7-10 business days. Please note that requests are not processed while the University is closed, and may take longer to process during peak times.
