ISAP STAFF

Ronald S. Méndez-Clark, Director
A native of Puerto Rico, Dr. Méndez-Clark organized Fordham’s Office of International and Study Abroad Programs (ISAP) in 2000 and has served as the ISAP Director ever since. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Universidad de Puerto Rico, and a Masters and Doctorate in Romance Languages and Literature from Princeton University. Dr. Méndez-Clark first came to Fordham University as a Spanish Instructor in 1978. Prior to his appointment as Director of ISAP, he served as Associate Chair of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and as Director of the Latin American and Latino Studies Institute. He is the author of Onetti y la (in)fidelidad a las reglas del juego and his article publications cover his areas of research on Latin American fiction, translation, Caribbean/Latino Studies, and, more recently, international education.

Joseph Rienti, Assistant Director & International Programs Coordinator
Joseph studied abroad at the Université de Paris, Sorbonne for one year while pursuing his BA in International Political Economy and French from Fordham College at Rose Hill. Upon graduating from Fordham, Mr. Rienti taught high school English at Lycée Charles le Chauve in Roissy-en-Brie, France as part of an Ambassade de France and Fulbright Commission partnership. He has also worked as a Financial Aid counselor at Fordham. Mr. Rienti holds an MA in Humanities and Sciences from Fordham's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and is currently completing a PhD in French at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He has traveled throughout France and the Francophone world. Since joining ISAP in 2006, Mr. Rienti has served as Coordinator for International Programs and Region Advisor for programs in France, Western Europe, the Far East, and Northern Africa.

 
Sara Karen Arlin, Special Programs Coordinator

Sara is a native New Yorker and first generation American.  Extensive travel during her youth cultivated in an interest in foreign languages and an insatiable wanderlust which in turn led to the pursuit of a career centered on international education. At Boston University, she completed her undergraduate degree in French Language and Literature with a Film Studies minor.  Through BU, she studied abroad for four semesters in Grenoble and Paris, France; Haifa, Israel and Niamey, Niger.  Still eager for further international experience, Ms. Arlin taught English for three years in Japan at Kuki Hokuyo High School in Saitama through the JET Programme.  Ms. Arlin is currently pursuing her MA in International Education at SIT Graduate Institute whilst trying to maintain her Hebrew, French and Japanese language skills.  At Fordham since September 2008, she serves as Coordinator for Fordham's Special Programs including the London Dramatic Academy, Fordham in Granada and the short-term faculty led programs.  Ms. Arlin is acting as Region Advisor for programs in the
France, Ireland, the United Kingdom, West Africa and Japan.

Shane Duggan, Study Abroad Advisor
Shane is a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.S. in Finance & Marketing, participated in Syracuse's summer seminar "Globalization and its critics" in Western Europe. Upon graduating from Syracuse, Shane worked as a Performance and Research Analyst with Watershed Investment Consultants, Inc. in Denver, Colorado. In 2008 Shane finished his 2 year Peace Corps service as a Small Enterprise Development Volunteer in Kenya. He is a first year graduate student in the International Political Economy & Development program at Fordham University.

Catherine Richardson, Study Abroad Advisor

Catherine is a native of central New Jersey and recently moved to Hoboken. She graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelors degree in Comparative literature and a Certificate in Creative Writing, for which she would one day like to pursue an MFA. She studied abroad and was a volunteer 4th Grade English teacher in Paris the spring of her junior year. She has also done home-stay language and culture programs in St. Malo, France and Oita, Japan. After returning from a grant-writing fellowship in Accra, Ghana, she is now excited to be at Fordham and looks forward to helping students make the most of their study abroad experience.

Gyanu Sharma, Study Abroad Advisor
Gyanu is from Nepal and is currently pursuing Masters in International Political Economy and Development at Fordham. He takes classes at the Rose Hill campus. He completed his Bachelors degree from Swarthmore with a major in economics and a minor in public policy. During the fall of junior year, he went to study abroad in Granada, Spain, where he studied Spanish language, arts and a little bit of culture. He's also studied in Hastings, England, where he finished high school.  He highly encourages all students to go and study in different countries.
