STUDY ABROAD IN AFRICA:     MOROCCO

Program:  Universite Mohammed V / Amideast
Location:  Rabat, Morocco

Is this Program Right For You? Historically, the Moroccan empire was a major player in world politics and the legendary cities of Fes, Marrakech and Essaouira, along with their monuments, are a standing witness of that historical role. Morocco is also a symphony of different forms of music and dance that make it one of the most "musical" countries in the world. The fine cuisine, the rich biodiversity, the hospitality, the vibrant civil society, the active elite, the diverse geography, the religious and ethnic tolerance, the Andalusian heritage, the varied economy and the longest Monarchy in the world make Morocco an interesting place to study.
America-Mideast Educational and Training Services (AMIDEAST) in partnership with Université Mohammed V offers a unique opportunity to enroll in university classes at a Moroccan university in Rabat.

The Courses/Program: AMIDEAST’s study abroad program consists of three major components:
1. Special activities such as excursions, community service and cultural activities, as well as optional internships
2. Academic study at Mohammed V University-Agdal, including specialized Arabic and French language classes and courses in the social sciences and humanities taught in English
3. A homestay with a carefully selected Moroccan family

Courses are designed to increase students' knowledge of the modern Arab/Muslim world, specifically Morocco and the greater Maghreb. The interdisciplinary curriculum forms a comprehensive academic experience that is ideal for students majoring in Middle East studies, anthropology, sociology, history, religious studies, international studies, political science, comparative literary studies, and languages. Most courses will be taught, in English, on the campus of Mohammed V University-Agdal by distinguished members of the faculty. All instruction for social science and humanities courses is in English.
