Is this Program Right for You? This unique program of the Center for Global Education at Augsburg College involves significant travel and study in three Central American countries: Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua.  The program’s focus is Sustainable Development and Social Change in Central America.  Participants from various U.S. universities explore in class and on the field the life and culture of the peoples of Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua.  Program participants also improve their Spanish language skills while living with families in the Guatemalan highlands while traveling in and being immersed in the day-to-day realities of Central America.  While looking at development and social change, participants consider the role of the church, most particularly within the situation of political oppression and social injustice in El Salvador.  Participants will also examine the theory and practice of economic development as well as the impact of social change movements in Nicaragua.
