Movement and Stage Combat - 4 credits
Alexander Technique
An indispensable tool for actors. Individual sessions enable students to learn to return their body to its original state of poise.
Historical Dance
A practical examination of English dance, demeanour and partnering styles from the Renaissance to the early 20th century. Through enjoyable social dancing, students develop musicality, body awareness and good posture.
Movement
Using techniques based on Rudolf Laban’s theories of flow, weight, time and space, this class teaches students to express themselves physically with emphasis placed on establishing and sustaining a good mind-and-body relationship.
Physical Theatre
Acting can start with impulses purely from the body, and not just the head. This course teaches students to produce sustained flows of energy in performance and to be imaginatively creative through use of physical theatre.
Stage Combat
An exploration of armed and unarmed combat fundamentals with an emphasis on safety and technique. Students use a range of classical stage weapons and techniques to produce convincing stage effects.
