LDA Aims and Objectives

LDA Aims and Objectives

Practical theatre and small classes

Small classes, one to one tutorials in acting and Alexander Technique, together with a conservatoire style programme based on the curriculum of accredited British drama schools enables students to develop their craft in a practical rather than theoretical way.

LDA is not imprisoned in one method but offers the widest variety of instruction.

By the end of a semester here you will possess a real sense of achievement and an understanding of how past and present draw together to make a theatre for the future.

Theatre Visits and Masterclasses

Integral to the programme are weekly visits to London theatres such as the National, the Royal Court, the Almeida and the Barbican. It is our aim that students should experience a wide variety of performance. As well as plays, students attend ballet and modern dance performances, opera and a symphony concert. The semester’s programme also includes exclusive performances at the Centre given by distinguished actors.

Our programme of Masterclasses enables students to meet with and question some of Britain’s most distinguished theatre practioners.
