Lisa Ryan - Freelance Writer
Award Year: - 1992

Julianne Welby - News & Public Affairs Dir., WFUV, Bronx NY
Award Year: - 1993

As News & Public Affairs Director of WFUV 90.7 FM, Julianne Welby wears several hats. She oversees information programming at the NPR affiliate, helps train Fordham students in broadcasting, and co-hosts the morning show (CIty Folk Morning, weekdays 6 - 10 a.m.) with half-hourly news updates and other features on news, arts and culture.

Julianne began her radio career at WFUV while a student at Fordham University. She went on to work at two other National Public Radio affiliates: first hosting newscasts and feature segments at WSCL-FM in Salisbury, Maryland until 1995; then reporting for WAMU-FM in Washington, DC until 2000.

Edith Bellinghausen - Director of New Media, Razor & Tie Entertainment
Award Year: - 1994

In 1994, Edith Bellinghausen started her professional life as Promotion Assistant at Coast To Coast, a radio promotion company. Two years later she joined Razor & Tie, an independent record label. There she continued in radio promotions, placing calls to stations to secure airplay of Razor & Tie releases.

Fascinated with the internet, in 1998 Edith convinced the owners of Razor & Tie to start the company?s first New Media department. They agreed, and Edith became Director Of New Media, a position she still holds today.

As Director, Edith conceived and developed online marketing initiatives for the company and its artists. She championed use of digital downloads and developed relationships with major online retailers. Edith was also responsible for the nominations of two Razor & Tie artists in the 1999 Yahoo! Internet Awards.

Edith went on to develop a web strategy based on Razor & Tie's HAs Seen On TVF product, parlaying direct-response TV advertising into online sales. The result was MusicSpace.com, a successful e-commerce website specializing in music and video collections. Edith continues to manage the site today.

Edith Bellinghausen is proud to serve on the Walsh Scholarship Selection Committee.

Timothy Wood - Managing Editor, Gear Magazine
Award Year: - 1995

Tim Wood left Fordham intent on running his own media empire by age 25. He began his quest as an assistant editor for Outdoor Life magazine in 1995 before moving on to become Publications Editor for the New York Yankees. After earning a World Series ring in 1998, he moved on to a pair of online ventures just in time for the big Internet bust. Ego wounded, he was hired as a columnist for the Middletown Times Herald-Record, where he won AP writing awards for both sports features and in-depth news in 2000. For the past year, he has served as Managing Editor of Gear, a 600,000-circ. publication somewhere between Maxim and Esquire on the men's magazine spectrum. He lives in Newburgh with his wife, Debbie, and his treasured pug puppy, Pugsley (a name most find completely unoriginal, but Fordhamites know as the best pizza joint in the world, and the place he met his wife). The empire dream has been put on hold while Wood works on his first book.

Susanne Youmans - Reporter/Copy Editor, Greenwich Times
Award Year: - 1996

Jennifer Mussi - Student Affairs Director, LC/Fordham University
Award Year: - 1997

Nora E. Harrington - Editor, Professional Sports Pub.
Award Year: 1998

After graduating in 1998, Nora worked in Fordham's Sports Information Office as an intern for the 1998-99 school year, covering many of the University's varsity programs, including women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball. In October 1999, Nora began working at Professional Sports Publications, a sports publishing company where she had interned during her senior year at Fordham. She began as a copy editor, working on Yankees Magazine and game day programs for the Buffalo Sabres, Oakland Raiders and several other professional and college teams. Nora became an Editor in March 2001 and now oversees the Northeast Region, which includes the Knicks, Jets, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Citrus Bowl and the University of Michigan football, basketball and hockey.
Nora has been living in the Bronx for the past three years and is recently engaged with plans to get married in 2003.

Yvette Placeres-Mena
Award Year: 1999

Lisa Diguglielmo - Public Relations Coordinator, Liz Clairborne
Award Year: 2000

Publicity, publicity, publicity that's what Lisa DiGuglielmo, FCRH'00, has been doing since the Walsh Scholarship. As a Public Relations Coordinator at Liz Claiborne Inc., Lisa has a range of duties, from working with stylists and editors of magazines and television shows, to writing pitch letters and publicity reports. Her job grew from a sales internship she had while still an undergrad at Fordham. Lisa is fascinated by both marketing communications and the fashion industry, and enjoys working in NYC. She is proud to be part of a tradition of Walsh Scholarship winners who have careers in communications, and looks forward to convening at the luncheon each year.

Paul Meehan - Production Assistant, ABC Sports, New York
Award Year: - 2001

Six months after graduating from the hallowed halls of Fordham University, Paul Meehan now finds himself amongst the anonymous masses charging for recognition in the twenty-first century rat race. Thankfully, however, he is one of the thinning numbers of people who tolerate, perhaps even enjoy his trade. As a young Production Assistant with the ABC Sports promotions and advertising team, he still has a long way to go before his learning curve begins to plateau. He spends his time away from the office blowing his earnings on trips across the country visiting friends and family, and pedaling through the streets of New York when weather and bio-terrorist threats permit. He remains very appreciative of the Walsh Scholarship Committee, for without their generosity his modest success may have never been possible.
