Department of Communications and Media Studies Announces 7th Annual Ann M. Sperber Biography Award

The 7th annual Ann M. Sperber Biography Award will be given this year in fall of 2006, to a biographer who has demonstrated exceptional achievement in writing and research, and has published a biography in the field of Journalism or Media Studies. Biographies in the field of Journalism and Media Studies, published in the calendar year 2005, should be submitted to The Department of Communication and Media Studies at Fordham University, by May 1. 2006. The 5th Annual M. Sperber Biography Award will be announced on October 25, 2006. The Ann M. Sperber Memorial Award and Endowment Fund was established with an initial gift by Liselotte Sperber, in memory of her daughter Ann M. Sperber,who wrote the biography of Edward R. Murrow, Murrow: His Life and Times, for which Ann was a Pulitzer prize finalist.

In memory of Ann's critically celebrated achievement, the Ann M. Sperber Biography Award recognizes excellence in the biographical account of a member of the journalism or media industries professions. Previous winners include Arthur Gelb for his autobiography City Room, and David Nasaw for his Biography of William Randolph Hearst, Chief, to name just a few of the winners.
