Minor in Business Administration
at Fordham College
The core curriculum in Fordham College develops your capacity for clear and critical thinking and correct and forceful expression, which serves you throughout life.
The Business Administration minor in Fordham College at Rose Hill provides you an additional life-long learning experience—core studies in business and economics which offer you a clear and concise way of analyzing issues in economics and business. The minor in Business Administration complements the students' study of the liberal arts. Since its inception four years ago, a large number of Fordham College students have selected this minor which has assisted them in their search for employment upon graduation. This minor has been especially popular with students whose major include communications, economics, English, history, psychology, and urban studies.
Fordham College students who are interested in pursuing this minor should take ECRU 1100 Basic Macroeconomics and ECRU 1200 Basic Microeconomics which can fulfill the two social science requirements in Fordham College and two of the seven courses required for the business minor, as noted below.
The minor in Business Administration consists of seven courses.
Four Core courses

ECRU 1200 Basic Microeconomics
ECRU 2140 Statistics I
ACBU 2222 Introduction to Financial Accounting
Two of the following business courses
BLBU 2234 Legal Framework of Business
CMBU 2665 Business Communications
FNBU 3221 Financial Management
ICBU 2300 Information Systems
MGBU 3223 Principles of Management
MKBU 3225 Marketing Principles
One additional course in either Accounting (ACCB 2223 Managerial Accounting ) or an advanced course in either of the two business areas selected above.
What courses can be double counted?
Students who plan to minor in Business Administration may take Basic Macroeconomics and Basic Microeconomics to fulfill both the social science requirement in Fordham College and the business minor.
The statistics requirement is waived for students who complete a course equivalent to ECRU 2140 Statistics I
in their major.
Economics majors may count Basic Macroeconomics, Basic Microeconomics, and Statistics I toward their major and the business minor.
International Political Economy (IPE) majors may count Basic Macroeconomics, Basic Microeconomics, and Statistics I toward their major and the business minor. IPE majors who are following the Global Business Track may count ACCB 2222 Financial Accounting towards the minor but MAY NOT count ACCB 2223 Managerial Accounting towards the minor.
