Fordham University The Jesuit University of New York

The English department is a hub for activities in literary scholarship.

l Journals

Journals edited by English deparment faculty include Joyce Studies Annual, which is under the editorial direction of Philip Sicker and Moshe Gold, and 19th Century Music, which is under the editorial direction of Larry Kramer. These journals also provide opportunities for graduate assistantships to some of our doctoral students.

l Interdisciplinary Groups

Fordham English faculty also participate and contribute to the formation of outside literary enterprises where they collaborate with faculty from English departments at other universities to focus on a particular area of literature. One such entity is The New York City Romanticism Group led by Sarah Zimmerman and John Bugg.

l Related Programs of Study

Many of our English department faculty participate in related programs of study at Fordham. Some examples include Glenn Hendler, who is currently Chair of the American Studies program; faculty members Martin Chase, Mary Erler, Suzanne Yeager, and visiting professor Erick Kelemen, who work closely with The Center for Medieval Studies; and Daniel Contreras who teaches cross-listed courses in Comparative Literature and Latin American/ Latino Studies. Our relationships with these programs enables students to receive earned course credits and gain maximum exposure to several areas of academic interest at the same time. For additional programs, please see our contacts page.
