Historic Mission vs. Transformative Change in a Catholic Women's College? Reflections from Trinity College in the District of Columbia.
Speaker: Dr. Jeanne Lord, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, Georgetown University.
Location: Fordham University, Rose Hill Campus, Duane Library, Tognino Hall, 441 East Fordham Road, Bronx, New York.
Catholic women’s colleges played an important role in American higher education in the period from 1900 through the 1960s, but many faced important challenges to their survival in the face of a trifecta of change: the advent of significant co-education, a decline in the number of women religious faculty members, and the social upheaval and student unrest of the Vietnam Era.  Jeanne Lord's research on Trinity College of Washington, D.C., examines the way in which one women's college managed the dynamic between mission and change during the last decade of the twentieth century and the first decade of the twenty-first.
