Hello fellow pre-health students and welcome to a fresh new year at Fordham. I am currently a senior and am following the pre-med route with a major in the Biological Sciences. Seeing as I have many passions, I haven’t decided whether I want to minor in Chemistry, Italian, or English. Being pre-med is a lot of work, but I also make sure I make time for leisure activities or things to help me “DE-STRESS.” To alleviate the pressures that school brings, I try and exercise throughout the week and I also sing in Fordham’s all female a cappella group “The Satin Dolls.” Laughing is important to me, and it’s easier to accomplish that task with the help of my goofy younger brother. I am a commuter and sometimes feel left out of the Fordham “dorm crowd,” BUT we daily travelers have to get involved. Make yourself apart of this campus, you’ll find that it is amazing. Aside from all of my school/exercise/ club involvement, I love vegging out in front of the TV with a huge bag of salty popcorn (go figure). Anyway, hang in there guys, and remember, we always have each other to lean on. Feel free to ask me anything from science questions to what my favorite Michael Jackson song is (Thriller). See you soon, and relax.

I am currently a senior biological sciences major and anthropology minor, studying hard in hopes of ultimately attending medical school in the fall of 2007. I have watched Laennec grow for the past three years and have been amazed by how much it has flourished. Although much of my time is dedicated toward expanding our society, I spend my spare time watching Grey's Anatomy, reading books (yes, other than textbooks), and practicing martial arts. I'm currently training for my black belt in Chinese-American Kenpo. Last year I was chairperson for Fordham's first annual Relay for Life (where we raised approximately $20,000) and interned in Dr. Kandpal's molecular biology lab where I helped conduct basic breast cancer research. Although I may seem like a nerd, you all are nerds too. Be sure to make school a priority, but enjoy life at Fordham first. Get involved and remember, we're all in this together. Laennec is here to help, so use us!

Welcome to Laennec. I’m a Junior Pre-med biology major and the VP of the Laennec Society. I have been a member of the Laennec Society since my first weeks at Fordham and the resources it has offered me are invaluable. I am the R.A. of Fordham’s first Science Integrated Learning Community in Alumni Court south designed to aid the transition of first year students into the demanding life of being a pre-health student. This summer I began doing research with Dr. Henriksen in the Biology department exploring the epigenetic changes that characterize the different forms of neuroblastoma cells. I enjoy being involved in intramural softball and soccer and am also a part of Pope Dante, Fordham’s Italian club. Being a part of last year’s Laennec sponsored Relay for Life was a great experience that I am looking forward to making even better this year and we hope you will join us. The upperclassmen are your best sources for information so please do not hesitate to contact us. And finally, I love the Yankees and you should too.

I am a senior biological science major. I was born in Grozny, Chechnya, lived in India for five years, and came to the US when I was eight years old. Since May of this year, I've been working at a molecular genetics lab at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. I am currently there three days a week doing research on 22q11 Deletion Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects one in a thousand live births each year. On weekends, I work at Hebrew Hospital Home in the Bronx teaching English to elderly Russian-speaking immigrants. I love music and for the past six years I've been playing guitar and singing in a band called A Moment's Worth. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have about the website or any other matter.

Hey fellow pre-med(ers) and welcome to theLaennec Society. I am a junior at FRCH persuing a biology degree with a concentration in pre-medicine. I am also an international student from the always tropical African country, Nigeria ( I miss it a lot, its so cold here sometimes). I am in the C-step program, a HEOP tutor, a resident assistant at Martyrs Court (yay martyrs!!!) and a clinical volunteer at the Albert Einstein ECHO Clinic in the bronx. Last Christmas, i went to Calcutta, India to volunteer with the Sisters of Charity with the Global Outreach programme, it was one of the best experiences of my life (GO! somewhere). Also, this summer i worked with Dr. Craig Frank at the Louis Calder Center performing research on the nutritional values of lipids and phospholipids in mammals. Being pre-med does not mean you cannot have fun so in my spare time, i love watching tv, listening to music and hanging out in the greatest city in the world with my friends. So welcome to the pre-med experience but make sure you have fun doing it because the real world is even tougher. Bonne Chance!!

My name is Anamarie Beluch and I am a junior biology major.  I am originally from Chicago, but now live on the upper east side with my roommate.  This is my third year as a Laennec e-board member and my first year as secretary for the society. As secretary, I will be sending you email's about important events and upcoming meetings, as well as information on Relay For Life.  I will also be posting our meeting minutes on our Laennec web site.  I volunteer at Memorial Sloan and Kettering Cancer Center in pediatric oncology, and I am an advisory council member for the American Cancer Society. During the summer and breaks from school, I work as a medical assistant for a pediatric doctor's office.  I love working with people and helping people when ever I can.

I am a junior with a biology major on a pre-med route. I am a freshman RA in North and stoked to finally have my own room to cope with my crazy schedule! During the summer I worked in the Biology Department doing research for the Laboratory for Familial Dysautonomia. I hope to continue to work there during the school year. Last fall I ran my first marathon with the Team in Training program to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I believe that running and exercising has helped me balance out the demanding schedule of being a pre-medical student and I hope to challenge myself to more races in the future.  Last spring I participated on a Global Outreach trip and travelled to Guatemala working with Habitat for Humanity. I am currently on the Global Outreach Board and am always willing to talk about my experience!

I am currently a sophomore pre-med biology major. I’m from Buffalo, New York but I love spending time here in NYC. When I’m not doing homework or studying for tests, I enjoy spending time with my friends, listening to music, and reading! And when I get the time, I listen to the games of my favorite sports team, the Buffalo Sabres. I have always loved children so I have incorporated them into all of my jobs and activities outside of school. Over the summer I worked with early aged ‘special needs’ children and here in the Bronx, I’m a mentor through the Phoenix House SALSA program. This is my second year in the Laennec Society, but first as an officer and it’s really comforting to know that there are a lot of other people that have gone through the same kinds of classes and stressors that being a pre-med presents.
