Setting up a Job Dossier through Interfolio

When beginning the process of seeking employment following doctoral studies, the newly minted Ph.D. recipient must assemble a job dossier.  The job dossier (or credential file) includes, among other things, the curriculum vitae, dissertation abstract, teaching philosophy, writing samples, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.

In order to make a Ph.D. or doctoral candidate’s academic dossier readily available to search committees, Fordham University’s Office of Career Services has partnered with Interfolio, an online academic credential file service.  Interfolio allows its users to upload those documents that comprise the job dossier.  Centralized in one online location, Interfolio users can then manage the documents in their job dossier and send them more easily to search committees.  In addition to the electronic delivery of documents, Interfolio offers paper delivery of documents for an additional charge.

Interfolio users should strongly consider requesting confidential letters of recommendation, which carry greater weight with search committees.  One can opt for confidential letters of recommendation within Interfolio, and these letters can be either mailed or emailed to Interfolio.  If the professors writing letters of recommendation experience difficulty in using Interfolio, you may direct them to an instructional video on the subject.

Official transcripts should be requested through My.fordham.edu and submitted directly to Interfolio.

The cost of Interfolio is $19 for one year and $39.90 for three years.
