Major & Minor Requirements (Thru 2013)
Requirements for the Major
Students who graduate with a major in History will receive a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Please contact Dr. Asif Siddiqi, the Undergraduate Chair at Rose Hill, at (718) 817-3939, or Dr. Doron Ben-Atar, the Undergraduate Chair at Lincoln Center, at (212) 636-7014 with any questions.
History majors are required to take 10 courses, including:
- Three Introductory Classes(from the Core)
- HSRU 1000 or HSRF 1000:
The West from the Enlightenment to the Present AP credits in European History with a score of 4 or 5 can replace this class
- HSRU 1100 or HSRF 1100:
Introduction to Modern American History AP credits in United States History with a score of 4 or 5 can replace this class
- HSRU 1300 or HSRF 1300:
Introduction to Medieval History
- One Global Course
(A history course focused on the history of Africa, Latin America, Asia, or the Middle East).
- One History Seminar, to be taken in the Junior or Senior year
- Five History Electives

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MINOR
Students who minor in History are required to take 6 courses, including:
- Three Introductory Classes (from the Core)
- HSRU 1000 or HSRF 1000:
The West from the Enlightenment to the Present
(AP credits in European History with a score of 4 or 5 can replace this class)
- HSRU 1100 or HSRF 1100:
Introduction to Modern American History
(AP credits in United States History with a score of 4 or 5 can replace this class)
