As recent events illustrate, the last three years have marked an unprecedented surge in child migration from Central America and Mexico. A panel of experts from international and local organizations will examine the increasing insecurity in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Mexico, and the resulting implications for destination communities, such as New York. This growing trend calls into question dichotomies of forced and economic migration and presents new challenges and protection issues to communities that wish to welcome these young people and support their integration and development.
