Arancha Garcia del Soto
In October of 2006, Dr. Arancha Garcia del Soto became the new Helen Hamlyn Senior Fellow with the Institute. Dr. Garcia holds a Degree in Social Psychology from the University Pontificia of Salamanca in Spain (1988), a Masters in Social Sciences by the Juan March Foundation in Madrid (1993), and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Salamanca (1998). She has worked, published and taught in Europe, Sri Lanka, Africa, Latin America and the United States on psychosocial interventions with survivors of violence. She has collaborated with local and international organizations formulating programs for different funding agencies, evaluating and implementing community programs with survivors of violence in the Balkans, West Africa, Latin America, Iraq and Sri Lanka. She is a member of the board of the International Rescue Committee-Spain, of Equitas-Colombia, and of the Community of Bosnia and NSC-Philadelphia, where she has been working during the last 5 years for the Solomon Asch Center for the Study of Ethno-political Conflict at the University of Pennsylvania.
