Independent Study

About Independent Study

Through the use of Independent Studies, the IIHA seeks to promote innovative thought in response to the challenges posed by Humanitarian Action. The IIHA offers opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students interested in subjects related to complex emergencies and humanitarian assistance. Participants will be held to Fordham University's standards of academic excellence, and will receive academic credit for their work.

All IS participants will meet together with their advisor, Arancha Garcia del Soto, Ph.D., the first week of the semester for a general introduction.  During the rest of the term each IS participant must meet with his/her advisor individually on a weekly basis, to discuss the status of his/her research, as well as to go over any problems or questions that arise.  The final week of the term all participants must meet on the date of the scheduled final to present their research to all IS participants. A final written report or power point presentation is expected at the end of the term.
