In the Jesuit tradition, our mission is to better understand
and respond to the complexities of humanitarian crises.
The Jesuit Universities Humanitarian Action Network (JUHAN) was created in collaboration between Fairfield, Fordham, and Georgetown to increase the effectiveness of efforts by all 28 American Jesuit Universities to respond to humanitarian crises in the United States and throughout the world.
Through the combination of the Jesuit pursuit of academic excellence and commitment to the education of the whole person, JUHAN seeks to develop in university communities a theoretical and concrete, systematic foundation for not only effective humanitarian action, but also the corresponding individual and institutional transformation which can result. Its collaborative efforts, in the form of academic curricula, conferences, workshops, community service, and research, aim to raise awareness on Jesuit campuses of the meaning of humanitarian response and its implications for the Jesuit ideology of "men and women for others."
