A cornerstone of JUHAN is a biennial workshop for undergraduate students from the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. The first JUHAN National Conference took place at Fordham University in June 2008. This year's JUHAN National Conference was held at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
A select group of students from all Jesuit Universities had the opportunity to learn about the complex and multidisciplinary field of humanitarian affairs through a series of lectures, group projects and the formation of university-specific humanitarian action plans. Students were exposed to a variety of issues, ranging from nutrition and infectious diseases, to accountability and ethics. At the close of the conference, students were tasked with developing university-specific strategic plans to enact at their home universities.
Fordham University had a delegation of 10 students, 1 faculty and 1 staff member attend the conference.
