Carey Kasten specializes in contemporary Spanish culture. She is particularly interested in twentieth-century representations of the Golden Age. She is completing a book on twentieth-century reinterpretations of the classic theatrical genre of the auto sacramental. She has several forthcoming articles: “Emerging from Darkness: National and Theatrical Revision in Jesús Campos García’s Auto sacramental,” forthcoming in Hispanic Review; “Tradición propagandística: El auto sacramental franquista” forthcoming in El siglo de oro en la España contemporánea; and “A Fatal Farce: Francisco Nieva’s Tragic Adaptation of Larra’s No más mostrador,” forthcoming in Hecho Teatral. Professor Kasten is on leave for the 2010-2011 academic year.
