Students

Welcome to all of our majors and prospective majors!

Luce Scholarships:   Sophomore women physics majors should definitely plan on applying for this one in February!

Summer Internships:  Each winter physics majors should consider applying for summer research positions both in the Fordham Physics Department and externally.  Many universities have NSF funded programs to give Research Experiences to Undergraduates.  The deadlines are often in February or March (although some are much later) so you should start thinking about it especially if you are currently a junior.  This is a great way to get experience and another letter of recommendation when you graduate.  As we get brochures from these programs they will be filed in the lounge.  In addition the department has a limited number of summer positions to help you get a taste of research.  We typically have a sign-up for these later in the spring semester.

Graduate School:  For seniors it is also time to start thinking about graduate school.  The department gets many brochures from graduate schools in physics and engineering during the year and these are filed in the lounge.

SPS:   We have a very active SPS chapter based in Freeman 205.  They hold special events throughout the year.  They also run a very successful help center for students in the Introductory Physics courses.  If you are interested in more information, please contact the faculty advisor, Professor Fessatidis.
