Graduate Courses

PSGA-7806-Multidimensional Scaling (3) Syllabus via Blackboard, eRes, or email.
This course considers the theory and applications of the scaling of data, univariate and multivariate, metric and non-metric, in psychology and related sciences. Emphasis is on the various theoretical models for scaling data multidimensionally and their application to the analysis of judgments obtained in psychological research.

PSGA-7835-Categorical Data Analysis (3) Syllabus via Blackboard, eRes, or email.
This course focuses on the analysis of variables that consist of discrete categories, which are ordered or unordered. Topics covered include the analysis of two-way contingency tables, measures of association, the binomial and multinomial distribution, tests of independence and goodness of fit, stratification, the analysis of multiway contingency tables, interaction and confounding, logistic regression for binary and ordinal responses, log-linear models, generalized linear models, and repeated measures analysis of categorical data.

PSGA-7920-Item Response Theory (3) Syllabus via Blackboard, eRes, or email.
This course looks at a range of models used to characterize responses of individuals to test items. The claims of advantages associated with item response theory in comparison to classical test theory are critically evaluated. Applications to practical problems of testing, including differential item functioning (DIF) and computerized adaptive testing (CAT) are discussed. Prerequisites: PSGA 6800, PSGA 7800, and PSGA 7900.

PSGA-7802-Regression Analysis (3) Syllabus via Blackboard, eRes, or email.
This course covers the use of multiple regression in data analysis. A variety of regression techniques are discussed including hierarchical regression and several stepwise regression methods. Special applications of regression, including mediating variable models and moderating variable models.

Undergraduate Courses

PSRU-1000-Introductory Psychology (3) Syllabus via Blackboard, eRes, or email.
An introduction to the contents and methods of scientific psychology as a life science. A survey of the facts, principles, and theories of psychology relating to learning, sensation, perception, cognition, motivation, developmental, personality, abnormal, and social psychology

PSRU-2010-Research Methods (5) Syllabus via Blackboard, eRes, or email.
A hands-on introduction to research methods in psychology. In the lab, students will replicate classic studies from different areas of psychology, analyze the results, and write APA-style lab report s. The lectures introduce these areas and relevant methods, placing the methods in broad historical and ethical contexts.
