This volume, dedicated to such diagnostic, theoretical, and treatment issues, helps informs the field of the most up-to-date knowledge and what remains to be resolved.
Clinical InterestsI am a cognitive-behavioral psychologist. I treat primarily individuals with anxiety disorders, across all ages. Most of my interests focus on the widespread applicability and acceptance of cognitive and behavioral methods to a wide variety of problems in the treatment community. Research InterestsMy research has been primarily in the following areas, with brief descriptions: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)In general, I have been interested in the nature and treatment of OCD. This has included maintaining factors, subtypes, assessment of severity, and general and specific cognitive factors in the condition, for children and adults with the disorder. Some recent efforts include participation in a multi-site examination of the hereditability of obsessive-compulsive subtype symptoms, magical ideation in OCD, and treatment procedures for different subtypes. Anxiety DisordersClosely related to the work on OCD, my interest in anxiety disorders has also been concerned with maintaining factors and issues in cognitive-behavioral treatment. One general aspect, anxiety sensitivity, has been a focus of attention. Disgust in Anxiety DisordersDisgust is an understudied emotion. I have been actively investigating the role of disgust in phobias and contamination fear. Suggested Links |
