PSGA-6245-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (3) Syllabus via Blackboard, eRes, or email
This course introduces students to the theory, and methods of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). We begin by reviewing a broad range of CBT techniques for adults with various disorders. Next we focus on exposure therapies. Behavior therapies derived from operant conditioning are considered for historical and therapeutic reasons. Applications of basic research on learning and memory from a cognitive neuroscience perspective are considered. Ethical and professional issues including dimensions of diversity are discussed.

The objective of this course is to survey contemporary thought about cognition and affect from a connectionist perspective. This perspective was chosen because it is in the forefront of a second cognitive revolution and because it is best enables students to integrate cognitive and affective phenomena. Integrative implications for theory, research, practice, and training are considered. Generalizations across dimensions of diversity are covered.

It is a survey of the facts, principles, and theories of psychology relating to learning, sensation, perception, cognition, motivation, developmental, personality, abnormal, and social psychology.

The objective of this course is to enable students to understand basic statistical concepts and become proficient at using SPSS software to conduct and interpret appropriate statistical analyses.
