Admissions Requirements

Eligiblity
  • Applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree 
  • Applicants who have completed a graduate degree 
  • Fordham undergraduates interested in completing a five-year Bachelors/Masters program
Admissions Procedures
For applicants holding a Bachelor's degree, the admission requirements for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences are:
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better is required.
  • GRE scores
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Résumé
  • If the applicant’s bachelor’s degree was granted from a university for which the language of instruction was other than English, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores are required
  • A statement of interest in and match of the student’s goals with the expertise and activities of the Master's program. Students must provide evidence of training, education, or practical experience in an area related to the fields and topics encompassed by the Master’s
  •  Your writing sample should be between 5 and 15 pages and an original example of your academic writing from a college course or from professional writing and projects you have done in the proposed field of study. The paper that best reflects your abilities and interests will help the committees remember the specifics of your work
Admissions procedure for applicants with a completed graduate degree:
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended.

  • If the applicant’s graduate degree was granted from a university for which the language of instruction was other than English, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores are required
  • A statement of interest in and match of the student’s goals with the expertise and activities of the Master's program. Students must provide evidence of training, education, or practical experience in an area related to the fields and topics encompassed by the Master’s.
Undergraduate admissions procedure for current Fordham juniors interested in completing a five-year combined Bachelor's and Master's degree program:
  • Undergraduate students currently matriculated in one of the colleges of Fordham University with a GPA of 3.2 or better may apply in the spring semester of the junior year.
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate institutions attended, including Fordham University, are required.
  • A statement of interest in and match of the student’s goals with the expertise and activities of the Master's program is also required.
