Compulsive, Obsessive, and Anxiety Program (COAP)

Welcome to COAP! We examine factors related to the onset, maintenance, and treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and related conditions, and Anxiety Disorders across the age span. At present, we are conducting treatment for all of these conditions in children and adolescents using Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), which is a well established and scientifically supported set of procedures used to alleviate these conditions. We are also conducting research to better understand factors impacting these disorders, which in turn will lead to adjustments to our existing therapies and to improvements in outcome.

The program is the lab of Dr. Dean McKay, Professor of Psychology at Fordham University. The specific diagnoses we have expertise in examining and treating are:

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

    And the following related disorders,
    • Body Dysmorphic Disorder
    • Trichotillomania
    • Health Anxiety & Hypochondriasis
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Panic Disorder with or without Agoraphobia
  • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
  • Specific Phobia
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Selective Mutism
  • Social Anxiety
