Anthropology Major Requirements

Students who major in Anthropology at Rose Hill must take:

  1. Introduction to Cultural Anthropology (ANRG 1100)
  2. Introduction to Physical Anthropology (ANRU 1200)
  3. Introduction to Archeology (ANRG 1300)

Juniors and seniors may take equivalent tutorials.  These three required courses insure that sutdents achieve a basic literacy in the major sub-fields of anthropology.  In addition, an anthropology major must take five elective courses, making eight in all.  Up to two courses in sociology may be used to satisfy electives, and, with prior approval, one or two courses in other departments, or special tutorials taken with anthropology faculty, may be credited toward the major if such courses complement departmental offerings and lie within a student's specific area of anthropological interest.  Students are strongly encouraged to enroll in anthropology courses taught by Lincoln Center faculty.
