To apply you must create an account. Please access the Online Application to initiate the application process and receive your user name and password.
The application fee is $70.00. The fee is waived for McNair Scholars, Peace Corps Volunteers, Fulbright Scholars, Project 1000 Scholars, and Members of the U.S. Military. Please send a request to email@example.com)
- Letters of Recommendation 3 from former professors or employers (submitted electronically; if hard copy, each must be sealed & signed across the seal). At least 2 letters of recommendation are accepted.
- Statement of Intent (maximum 500 words, submitted electronically via the online application). Place your name on all pages of your Statement of Intent
- GREs are not required for admission to the program
- Official Transcripts Request your college/university transcripts now so you can have them sent (sealed from the college/university) to the Admissions office at the address below by the deadline date.

Attention: International transcripts must be translated into English and converted to the U.S. grading system of 4.0 G.P.A. (Grade Point Average). Transcripts and credentials conversion could be submitted to one of the following for evaluation:
Please note that all application requirements (excluding the playwriting portfolio) need to be received at GSAS Admissions by the deadline date. The playwriting portfolio should be sent to Matthew Maguire at the address below. Any additional materials not submitted electronically (transcripts & recommendations) should be sent to Fordham's GSAS Admissions Office at the address below. Do not send hardcopy duplicates of materials that you submitted electronically - that will delay your application process.

Playwriting portfolio requirements:

- Two plays (at least one should be full length)
- Bachelor’s degree
- Playwriting portfolio

Fordham's GSAS Institution code is 2259. Allow 4 - 6 weeks for scores to be processed and sent to Fordham.
- Application Review
The deadline date represents when all materials (transcripts, recommendations, excluding the playwriting portfolio) need to be received by GSAS Admissions to be reviewed
Give your recommenders ample time (at least one month) to submit their recommendations, therefore, enter the recommenders’ names as soon as you begin your application. They will be electronically notified of your request even before you submit your application

You need not enroll as an MFA candidate to take a class in this program. You may be a professional writer exploring playwriting, or an early-career BA or BFA playwright/screenwriter who wants exposure to a working, writing community. You are welcome in all courses. Hone your craft with professional playwrights and other artists committed to the theatre.

Semester "Abroad" in NYC
Take a semester abroad in New York City! Students at any MFA or equivalent program are welcome to enroll in this program for one or more semesters and earn credits from Fordham toward your degree. Enhance your graduate experience with a semester in the heart of the theatre industry. Train with the prestigious faculty of Fordham College at Lincoln Center and the pre-eminent Off Broadway theatre company, Primary Stages, while immersing yourself in the arts culture of New York City. It’s like no other program anywhere!
