Amanda has worked as a legal advocate and counselor for people with special needs. Her professional experience has influenced her research interests. Specifically, her research interests include examining how early Christian texts represent, understand, theologize, theorize and respond to disability, aging, and chronic illness. The primary focus of her research is emerging theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of texts in disability studies and postcolonial studies. Her goal is to promote a more interdisciplinary approach to the study of Christianity in antiquity and bring the disability community into dialogue with the religious community.
