Building Real World Readiness:
Analytics Skills for 21st Century Leaders

A Collaborative Forum for Faculty, Students, and Business Leaders

Thursday, March 31, 2011, 1:00PM-4:00PM
Flom Auditorium, William D. Walsh Family Library
Fordham University, Rose Hill Campus

The value of education increases during times of great change. The world is facing a talent shortage that could significantly impact economic growth, sustainability, health, the environment, and global competitiveness. At the same time, the world has become increasingly intelligent, instrumented, and interconnected. Developing “real world readiness analytics skills” will enable our students to conceive and develop innovative solutions and applications to address societal and business challenges and opportunities in the 21st century. Dr. Colin Harrison, inventor of IBM's Smarter Cities technical architecture, was the keynote speaker at the forum. Faculty from multiple disciplines are collaborating to enable our students to learn analytics skills through inspired interdisciplinary course offerings and real world projects. The panel discussion facilitated an interactive dialogue on opportunities for collaboration among Fordham University faculty & students, business & government leaders, and IBM.
