Healthy Cities in the 21st Century

As the world’s cities continue to grow apace in number and size, what is the outlook for healthy cities in the 21st Century?

On Feb 8, Fordham-LC urban studies and psychology hosted a lively interdisciplinary 75-minute forum on “Healthy cities in the 21st Century.” About 35 students and professionals participated, as a series of 8 experts--3 speakers and 5 discussants—briefly addressed specific urban themes: Peter Walker on the work of UN Habitat, Arline Bronzaft on noise reduction in cities, Harold Takooshian on the changing public image of the city, Rick Sanford on the future of urban transportation, Bruce Berg on post-industrial cities like New York, Moses Williams on spiritual life in cities, Sarah Benoit on urban studies at Fordham, Noema Chaplin on student involvement in UN activities.
