Junior Review and Senior thesis
In the spring of their junior year visual arts majors have the opportunity to present their work to the Visual Arts faculty for consideration for senior project.

Visual arts students are encouraged to generate a senior thesis and conclude their four years at Fordham with an exhibition of their work.

Visual Arts Club and S.O.V.A.
The Visual Arts Club at Lincoln Center and S.O.V.A. at Rose Hill are student-run clubs. They are wonderful places to meet and exchange ideas with peers. All Visual Arts students are strongly encouraged to participate. The Visual Arts Club activities include: curating of exhibitions in the Lipani Gallery, arranging visiting artists’ lectures, workshops and field trips, helping to prepare and hang senior exhibitions and designing posters for exhibitions and other club-sponsored events.

Student Highlights
Many of our Visual Arts majors have graduated and found positions at museums, galleries, schools, libraries, advertising agencies, publishers, photo labs, architecture and design firms. Many of our majors have also completed programs at some of the top graduate schools in the country, such as: Yale School of Art, University of Pennsylvania, Mason Gross School of Art at Rutger’s University, Harvard’s program in Arts Administration, Historic Preservation at Columbia University, Parsons School of Design, Yale School of Architecture, Rhode Island School of Design, University of Virginia school of Landscape Architecture, Maryland institute of the Arts.

Visual Arts Majors who are interested in continuing their studies are recommended to have at least a year of professional work related experience or studio experience in their concentration before applying to graduate school.

Internships
Students are encouraged to do an internship related to the field of visual arts. New York City offers a wealth of opportunities to the responsible and independent student. Visual Arts majors have assisted renowned artists in their studios and have held internships at many of the top galleries, museums, advertising agencies, book publishers, magazines, architecture and graphic design firms in the city. These internships offer the student invaluable experience and often lead to jobs after graduation.

Study Abroad
Study abroad is a enriching academic and cultural experience. The department supports many of the programs with studies in visual arts. Students who are interested are encouraged to do their foreign study during the summer prior to their junior or senior year or in the fall semester of their junior year.
