Since the program's inception, students have always played an active role in building the Honors community. In the footsteps of the earliest members planning the alumni Christmas party in the 1950s and 60s and the steering committee formed in the early 1990s with elected class representatives, a student activities committee was reestablished in the spring of 2006. The goal of the student-run activities committee is to bridge together the different years of Honors students, and to explore ways in which Honors students can give back to Fordham and the local community. In just the past two years, students have organized trips to the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum, the Frick Collection, and BODIES…the Exhibition at the South Street Seaport, as well as board game nights at Alpha House. Upcoming events (in planning phase) include a movie showing and lecture by an Honors professor, more museum and NYC cultural trips, service opportunities, and ethnic food excursions.

A student committee is only as good as the students who participate and the ideas they generate. Committee meetings occur throughout the semester in Alpha House. If you are interested in joining, please email honorsprogrh@fordham.edu.
