Social Events
Fall Barbecue
Early each fall semester we gather to say hello, meet new students and faculty, and reinforce old connections. Despite our New York location, the food is usually ribs, pulled pork, and all the down home trimmings. Bocce and touch football are traditional after dinner activities.

Christmas Party
On one of the reading days (used to prepare for final exams), we gather for some refreshment and conversation and mutual support over a variety of Christmas breads, cakes, and cookies, as well as mulled cider and the ever popular holiday punch. Students are all encouraged to make at least one ornament for our Honors Program Christmas Tree during their four years with us, something that will forever remind our community of who they are.

The Honors Tea
Each spring a group of our highly cultured Honors students meet for afternoon tea at one of New York’s elegant downtown hotels, often taking a faculty guest or two along as well. Past groups have been to the Waldorf Astoria, the Mark Hotel, and the now defunct Russian Tea Room and Plaza Hotel.

The Honors Banquet
Late in the spring, students and faculty gather as a group for a sit-down dinner, during which they toast and reflect on the past year and preview the upcoming plans of the program. At this occasion, we honor our graduating seniors with 'alpha' pins signifying their successful completion of the program and invite them to tell us about their past four years and their future plans. The entire Honors community applauds the achievements and ambitions of our students as they head off into graduate programs, medical or law schools, teaching positions and training, global community service, or gainful employment!
