Captain Matthew E. Loughlin
Commanding Officer

Born and raised in upstate New York, Captain Loughlin was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in March 1985.
A career Surface Warfare Officer, Captain Loughlin has served in numerous ships and sea-going staffs. He previously commanded USS DE WERT (FFG 45) home ported in Mayport, Florida. Immediately prior to assuming his duties as Commanding Officer, he commanded USS SHILOH (CG 67) forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
Principal duties ashore include tours as Operations, Plans and Policy Director (J3/J5) for Joint Interagency Task Force West at Camp Smith, Hawaii and Deputy Chief of Staff for Joint Task Force 519 in Pearl Harbor.
Captain Loughlin is a graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz and earned a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in 1997.
