What are the dates for Summer Session?
Session I: May 28-June 27, 2013
Session II: July 2-August 6, 2013

Unless otherwise indicated, 3-credit courses meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 4-credit courses meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Graduate courses meet twice per week either on Mondays and Wednesdays or on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

How much is tuition?
2013 tuition rates for an undergraduate course are estimated to be $795 per credit (finalized rates available in December).  Please see our Tuition and Fees page for lab fees on specific courses.  To calculate your tuition, multiply the cost per credit by the number of credits you will be taking, plus any additional fees.

PSYC 1200 (4 credits):
$795 x 4 = $3,180
Lab fee = $75
Total= $3,255

If I am not a Fordham student, can I still register ?
Yes, Fordham welcomes visiting students in its summer programs. Please learn more from the Registration section of this website or  our Bulletin, which you can request here. Be sure to read all of the information in our Policies and Procedures sections before sending in your registration form with your full payment.  Visiting students who register for six or more credits in a session will be asked for proof of immunization after their registration has been finalized.
If I am an international student, are there additional procedures for me to follow in order to register?
Since the summer course load (8-credit maximum per session) is not considered full-time, Fordham University does not issue I-20 Student visas for students wishing to take traditional liberal arts or business classes.  Students from member countries of the Visa Waiver Program may travel as tourists to take one or two courses.

Students seeking I20s for English language study are welcome to apply to Fordham's Institute of American Language and Culture (www.fordham.edu/esl). IALC students with an advanced level of English proficiency may be eligible to register for credit-bearing Fordham Summer Session courses, subject to availability.

Please note that matriculation and evidence of good standing at an American university in an undergraduate degree program (i.e., not an ESL program) are also required for those who would like to stay in Fordham University housing.
How can I drop a class?
Fordham students should use my.fordham.edu to drop a course and are responsible for verifying their registration activities through my.fordham.edu. All students may request to be dropped from a course by coming to the Summer Session office or by submitting a written request via fax at 718-817-4670 or email at summerschool@fordham.edu. Please include your full name, Fordham student ID number, the course number, and the course name of the classes you would like to drop. The effective date for any course change is the date a drop/withdrawal occurs via my.fordham.edu or the date upon which the Summer Session Office receives a written form of notification of the course change request. Please note the deadlines for dropping a course in our Calendar.

Do I get a refund if I drop a course?
Only students who drop their course prior to the first class meeting are entitled to a full refund; students dropping after the first class may be entitled to a partial refund. Please see our registration Policies and Procedures to calculate your eligibility and confirm with the Summer Session office.

How do I obtain a refund?
Students should request refunds in writing either through email (summerschool@fordham.edu) or fax (718-817-4670).  The dean will respond letting you know the refund you should expect. Refunds are made in the following ways: Fordham students will receive a credit on their account.  Visiting students who pay by credit card will be refunded by the same card.  Visiting students who pay by check or wire transfer will receive a check in the student's name at the permanent address listed on the application.  Once the dean confirms eligibility, please allow 3-4 weeks for processing.  Students may contact Student Accounts to verify method of refund. Student Accounts is located in Thebaud Hall on the Rose Hill campus and can be reached at 718-817-3901. See Policies regarding refunds for more information.

Exceptions to the published refund schedule may be appealed in writing to the dean and must be accompanied by supporting documentation that warrants consideration of an exception.  Such petitions must be received by the Office within 10 days of withdrawal from the course(s) in question.

Why do I have a hold (Refer to Summer Session) on my account?

The Office of Summer Session puts a hold on all visiting student accounts to prevent students from making changes to their registration on their own. Refunds are not automatic, so we need to keep track of all drops and withdrawals via written request, and registration in the fall and spring requires an application to the Fordham School of Professional and Continuing Studies.  If you wish to make a change to your summer registration, please email us at summerschool@fordham.edu.  If you are interested in taking a class in the fall or spring as a non-matriculated student, please email pcsinfo@fordham.edu. This hold does not impact transcript requests.

When and where can I get the books for my class?
You can buy your books at the bookstore on the campus where you are taking your class.  The bookstore will have a list of the texts required for your class. Visit the bookstore website for more information.

Is there housing available?
Housing is available for students matriculated at an accredited U.S. college or university and registered for and attending a Fordham summer class. Please visit the Housing section for more information. Fordham students should apply through my.fordham.edu.
How do I get my grades?
Students can check their grades and request transcripts through my.fordham.edu.  Visiting students should claim a my.fordham.edu account after registration.

All students may request both official and unofficial transcripts in writing from the Office of Academic Records.  Students may make the request through my.fordham.edu (in the Banner Self-Service channel of the Student tab, select "Students," then "Student Records"; "Request Printed Transcript" is the 4th option).  Or students may also send a written request to the campus where they took summer classes:

Rose Hill
Fordham University
Office of Academic Records
Thebaud Hall
441 East Fordham Road
Bronx, NY 10458

Lincoln Center
Fordham University
Office of Academic Records
113 West 60th Street
New York, NY 10023

When requesting a transcript in writing please provide your name, student identification number, date of birth, division of the university that you attended, approximate dates of attendance, degree received (if any), a day time phone number, and where you would like the transcripts to be sent. You must sign your request. There is no charge for obtaining your transcript. You may also come in person to Thebaud Hall First floor at Rose Hill, Leon Lowenstein building 216A at Lincoln Center or fax your request to 718-817-2685.

An additional option is to email your request to summerschool@fordham.edu.

How do I get my credits transferred over to my college/university?
We strongly recommend that you confirm with your academic advisor at your home institution that you will receive credit for a course taken outside of your college or university. Before granting permission, some schools require course descriptions or syllabi of the courses to be transferred, which you can obtain by contacting our office at 718-817-4665 or emailing summerschool@fordham.edu. To have your credits transfer, after completing the class and receiving a grade, please request that a transcript be sent to your school from Fordham University’s Office of Academic Records. See above or Transcript Request for more information.

Do I need to send in my transcript along with my application?
A transcript is not needed to register for classes; however, in order to be eligible to live in the residence halls, you may send a transcript as proof of good standing.  Students may also be asked to provide evidence that they can do satisfactory course work before they are registered.
