Summer Biblical
Languages Program: Greek
20 May-27 June, 2013

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is proud to offer an intensive course in the grammar and syntax of Biblical Greek. In a six-week session, in the heart of New York City, students receive the equivalent of two semesters of instruction in translation and exegesis.

Taught by a full-time faculty member of Fordham's Theology Department, the course will enable students to read passages from the Hebrew Bible with the help of a dictionary.

Program highlights include:
  • Class sizes limited to twelve students, with a graduate assistant in addition to the professor
  • Organization of classes aimed at mastery of holistic units of grammar
  • Homework aimed at vocabulary acquisition and reinforcement of grammatical forms
  • Quizzes given at the beginning of each class and graded immediately by the assistant to identify points that need further attention
  • Oral drills that enliven class and promote creative mastery of the material
  • Readings from the Greek Bible, introduced early, enable students to test the skills they are building through exercises and drills
To make possible the achievement of the high aims of these intensive courses, the instructor and teaching assistants will be available for consultation outside class and on weekends.
