What do you want to be doing this summer?
Acting.  The Fordham Summer Actors Workshop offers five weeks for students to focus entirely on their passion.  Without the pressure of other academic requirements, the actor can release into the exploration of the craft.

Where do you want to be?
New York.  Do the work, then take in some of the most accomplished performers in the world.  The Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway shows are your means to witness the spectrum of theatrical forms and performances.  Watch how the techniques you learn in class are embodied on stage.  Discuss with your peers and teachers your discoveries and then push beyond your own theatrical comfort zone.

Who do you want to meet?
Professionals contacts.  Our teachers have years of professional experience.  Knowing both the business and artistic faces of acting, they share ways to break down habits and create new entrances into character.  Described as "outstanding" with an "amazing amount of knowledge to share," the instructors provide new tools for you to use on your professional journey.

Why now?
You are thinking ahead.  Maybe you are considering shifting majors, applying to graduate school, or moving to New York after college to begin your career.  The Fordham Summer Actors Workshop is a segue into an environment that may be unfamiliar to you.  Ask questions of industry leaders and test the waters of a new geography. The workshop is a step towards making and sustaining a life-long career.

The bottom line: College can be stressful.  The summer is the time to pursue what you love in a place you'll love.  Summed up by an '09 Fordham Actors Workshop participant, this is a perfect opportunity for "learning about my own personal habits while acting and discovering new ways to push past them . . . to be comfortable with myself."

PROGRAM
This program earns 4 credits. The workshop consists of classes during the day, with field trips or guest speakers one afternoon a week.  Additional evenings are reserved for attending the theatre.

A full registration packet includes the application along with a letter of recommendation and deposit to the Office of Summer Session. When you are accepted, you will be enrolled in the four-credit workshop course.  Registrants must have completed at least their freshman year of college and be matriculated and in good standing at an accredited U.S. college or university.
