Carry on the Marymount Spirit with Vera Bradley
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Marymount College, Tarrytown, the Marymount College Alumnae Association and Vera Bradley are pleased to offer the Marymount Commemorative Tote. Inspired by their years at Marymount, Melissa McCoy-Garzione, ’84, president of the Alumnae Association Board of Directors, and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, ’61, a co-founder of Vera Bradley, collaborated to make certain that aspiring women will have the same opportunity for higher education. Proceeds from the sale of the Marymount Commemorative Tote will be donated to the Marymount Legacy Fund.
In addition to saluting all Marymount alumnae and supporting future student-scholars, Vera Bradley has dedicated the Marymount tote in memory of Mary Sloan, who graduated from Marymount College in 1961 and played an integral part in building Vera Bradley as its first sales representative. Sadly,Mary lost her courageous battle with breast cancer in 1992. In 1998, Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and her Vera Bradley co-founder, Patricia Miller, established the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, which has pledged more than $10 million to fight the disease.
