President's Corner

Dear Marymount family:

On Thursday, October 7, we conducted our first Marymount Alumnae Association board meeting of the new academic year. I was thrilled by the energy, enthusiasm and commitment of our board members! Thanks to the leadership of the board and to your commitment, our dear alumnae, former faculty and R.S.H.M., we begin another year as the Marymount Alumnae Association supported by Fordham University. In 2010, we were able to accomplish a significant milestone: our first reunion at Rose Hill. At the Marymount Awards Ceremony—with more than 80 attendees, representing our entire community—we celebrated our proud past through our award recipients, enjoyed the present by sharing a beautiful afternoon with Marymount family, and looked to the future by pledging our support to our fellow alumnae and our future endeavors as an association.

This year we will continue to focus on several key initiatives: (1) Rebuilding, reconnecting and strengthening our intra-community relations; (2) Rolling out a proactive, multifaceted and diverse communication plan; and (3) Growing the endowment for the Marymount Legacy Scholarship through our strategic donor stewardship. This is a time of great opportunity, and we will accomplish these goals with your invaluable involvement and support! Please join us for an action-packed 2010-2011 including: Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Founder's Day Mass and Reception in Tarrytown honoring our fourth Marymount Legacy Fund Scholarship recipient; and Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Reunion Jubilee Award Ceremony and Gala at Rose Hill; and much more!

In the words of John F. Kennedy, "Our task is not to fix the blame for the past, but fix the course for the future." And so we are thrilled to look forward and forge ahead with our wonderful community.

Lest we forget, Tua Luce Dirige!
