President’s Council Members Reach Out To HEOP Students

Joe Quinlan
Our President’s Council Chair,
Peter Sacripanti, sharing the impact mentoring has had on his own career.

Ever since the inception of the President’s Council, mentoring has been closely associated with its mission. And President’s Council members have responded generously to requests over the past few years to mentor both Fordham’s young alumni and its students.

In the spirit of the ideals of Jesuit education, Council members have expressed a desire to reach students with the fewest personal career resources or natural mentors within their inner-circle of family and friends. With that interest in mind, a new mentoring relationship is being forged between the President's Council and students admitted to Fordham through HEOP. HEOP students come to Fordham from the most economically disadvantaged backgrounds— for example, a New York student from a family of four cannot have a family income that exceeds $30,900.

The six President’s Council members who attended a mentoring lunch on April 18 with twelve HEOP students can attest the the fact that these young men and women are beating the odds, and succeeding at Fordham with flying colors. Counicl mentors hope to enhance the already strong foundation these students are receiving at Fordham, through sharing life’s professional and personal lessons with them.

Below are some pictures from the mentoring lunch —please stay tuned for future opportunities for your involvemnt in similar programming. Thank you.
