Biography

Professor Andrée Hayum, a scholar of both Italian and Northern Renaissance art, was awarded the Charles Rufus Morey Prize from the College Art Association for her last book, The Isenheim Altarpiece: God’s Medicine and the Painter’s Vision (Princeton University Press). She has also been the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Fulbright Commission. In 1995, she was the Ruth and Clarence Kennedy Visiting Professor of Renaissance studies at Smith College. As well as having published articles in various scholarly journals, she has recently been writing review essays of important Old Master exhibitions for Art in America, a magazine geared more toward contemporary art.
